The future of telecoms depends on strong collaboration between nations – 5G Techritory to strengthen this bond

October 17, 2023

The future of telecoms will be discussed at the 7th annual 5G Techritory forum on Oct. 18-19 in Riga, Latvia. The forum, which has become the leading cross-sectoral, cross-border 5G event in the world, historically brings together policymakers, scientists, telecoms specialists, businesses, and governments from more than 81 countries to discuss the challenges facing the world of mobile connectivity.

At this year’s forum, a special focus will be placed on co-creation events hosted by various governmental initiatives, with more than 17 co-creation events planned. For example, a delegation from Ukraine will host a roundtable on digitization initiatives to support rebuilding Ukraine’s telecoms infrastructure.

“I am thrilled to participate in the 5G Techritory event, which will serve as an invaluable space for fostering international collaboration and innovation in the digital sphere for Ukraine. I am confident that we will develop impactful joint concepts that will further advance digital transformation and Ukrainian EU integration efforts.” – Sofia Klymchuk, Ministry of Digital Transformation, Chief Specialist of the Electronic Communications State Policy Department

The UK’s Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) will be hosting a UK & Baltic Sea Region Workshop on Future Telecoms & Diverse, Open, and Interoperable Networks, illustrating the UK’s interest in driving conversations with cross-border partners.

“We’re delighted to announce our involvement in the upcoming 5G Techritory Forum. UK experts will be participating in panel sessions and look forward to carrying forward discussions on 5G and Future Telecoms with government and industry representatives from the Baltic Sea region and further afield. Additionally, in the light of the UK Government’s commitment to promoting an international conversation on 5G and Future Telecoms, we’ll be hosting a standalone, invite-only, UK-Baltic Sea Region Workshop on Future Telecoms & Diverse, Open and Interoperable Networks.

Engagement with industry representatives will be particularly important as an integral part of UK’s 5G Supply Chain Diversification Strategy and our wider commitment to the 5 ‘technologies of tomorrow’ (Future Telecoms, Quantum, AI, Engineering Biology and Semiconductors).” – Paul Brummell, British Ambassador to Latvia

The strengthening of collaboration is a foundational value and underlying goal of 5G Techritory. The 17 co-creation events planned for this year highlight the fact that the forum has become a venue for collaboration, thought exchange, and the future of telecoms leadership.

The event brings together over 120 speakers and 2000+ online viewers around the world and is free to attend. Among this year’s speakers are Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Audrey Plonk, Head of the Digital Economy Policy Division at OECD, Stanislav Prybytko from the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and many more.
