From 5G to 6G: leveraging key trends and 5G evolution to shape 6G for vertical sectors

6G is unfolding fast in most prestigious labs worldwide. Research results are handled to standardization bodies like 3GPP which will deliver a standard ready before end of this decade. 6G will come to real world around 2030 complementing 5G with new groundbreaking features such as embedded AI and sensing capabilities. Industrial sectors will be first and fast adopters of new 6G functionalities to support digitalization, new production paradigms and innovative business models for products and services.

The co-creation event will be moderated by Carles Anton and Raffaele de Peppe, both Board Members of 6GIA which represents the European industry within the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).

Preliminary agenda:

  • Session 1: SNS-JU 6G Trials and Pilots
  • Session 2: International Trials & Pilots
  • Session 3: Market and economic aspects
  • Session 4: Panel discussion on Challenges, lesson learnt and promising 6G technologies identified in Trials and Pilots
  • Session 5: Wrap up and conclusions

The goal of this co creation event is to drive awareness on 6G amongst industrial sectors to drive future adoption.

  • First 6G use cases tackled by European funded research projects (TrialsNet and IMAGINE B5G, funded under the SNS JU workprogramme) will be shared along with international trials and pilots to provide a global view on 6G status.
  • A Tracking tool for vertical on 6G EU funded research will be presented along with main KPIs, for the first time publicly.
  • Key trends in verticals sectors and an operator view on the evolution of 5G to 6G in the second part of this event will provide a real word perspective on 6G adoption within industrial sectors.
  • A final panel will allow to bring pieces together and allow attendees to interact with key speakers for final and more detailed insights into 6G for verticals.
