Christian Pegel

Minister Ministry of the Interior, Building and Digitalisation, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany

Minister Christian Pegel has been a Member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and, from 1997 to 2001, was the Chief Executive of the SPD parliamentary group in the city assembly of the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald. After an internship at Stralsund Regional Court and 2nd State Examination in Law in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from 2002 to 2004, 2005 Mr. Pegel earned his qualification as a lawyer. 

After that, he was the Head of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Chancellery from 2012 to 2013. Then, from 2014 to 2016, Mr. Pegel was the Minister for Energy, Infrastructure, and Rural Development in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and, since October 4, 2016, a Member of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Parliament. 

From 2016 to 2021, Mr. Pegel was the Minister for Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalisation Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and since November 15, 2021, he has been the Minister of the Interior, Construction and Digitalisation Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Christian Pegel was born in Hamburg, is married, and has two children. He holds a degree from the University of Greifswald and the 1st State Examination in Law in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
