Lauma is the Director of Technology Department at the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) – an organization actively involved in supporting and facilitating knowledge and technology transfer and entrepreneurship in Latvia.
Commercialization of research and intellectual property management are her fields of expertise that she has developed by working with and within research organizations. Lauma has been a Leader of Work Package “Demand validation and promotion of high quality services for SMEs” in project Technet_nano, has worked as a project coordinator at the EuroNanoForum 2015, as a Senior Expert at the University of Latvia where she was responsible for EU structural fund, INTERREG, EEZ financial instrument and Norway financial instrument programme projects, and more.
Additionally, Lauma is a former Fellow at the Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property of George Mason University (Thomas Edison Innovation Fellowship), and is a PhD candidate at Ragnar Nurkse Department of Innovation and Governance of the Tallinn University of Technology.
