Lucia received her PhD in 2012 from the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands, with a thesis on video streaming over peer-to-peer networks. As a Senior Researcher at TNO, she focuses on integrating support for media applications and – in recent years – holographic communication into mobile networks.
Alongside publishing her research in peer-reviewed academic venues and holding several patents, Lucia has also advised European operators on network and TV technologies and has contributed to international industry standards (especially in the 3GPP SA4 group).
Currently, Lucia is the TNO lead for two European projects – ESA ARTES 5G-EMERGE and HEU COMMECT.
