Raivis Bremšmits

Director General Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA)

Raivis Bremsmits has served as the Director General of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) since June 2024. In this role, he leads the agency’s efforts to strengthen Latvia’s export potential, enhance the competitiveness of Latvian businesses, attract foreign investment, and foster tourism and innovation development.

Before joining LIAA, Raivis was the Deputy State Secretary on Economic Issues at the Ministry of Economics, where he played a pivotal role in shaping policies for business promotion, innovation development, and foreign investment attraction, as well as managing the European Social Fund (ESF) Responsible Authority.

From 2011 to 2024, Raivis was the Director of the State Sustainable Development Planning Department at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development. In this capacity, he led various support initiatives, including implementing the industrial park program, tax incentive schemes, small grants for local businesses, and capacity-building programs. Additionally, he was instrumental in developing administrative-territorial reforms and overseeing the supervision of regional planning authorities.
